Not much....but 4" on Saturday night and another 2" yesterday made the roads a little dicey in spots.
The weather has been in the upper 40s and even hit 55 on Saturday before the snow. Serious melt off has begun in most spots around Jasper. Still about 14-16" in most spots in the trees.
Many people coming up the road thinking they can get to Platoro have tried and failed to get up FSR 250 past yellow gate. Kevin and I have dug out 5 different vehicles in the last three days including the CenturyLink bucket truck which buried itself to the axles in our driveway...That was special!!!!
Just a friendly reminder as all cabin/land owners know...come prepared with chains, tow straps, come- alongs and anything else that may help you get unstuck...we are here for you ....But help us help you and know that we are "old guys". We can still sling a mean shovel if necessary.
Locals from the valley come up and most do a fine job of parking in the plowed oversized parking area at Red Gate....On Saturday a couple of guys came up and thought it would be OK to park their flatbed truck right in the middle of 250...zero clearance on either side of his vehicle causing two vehicles to get stuck....Yes we dug those out too...After a few choice diplomatic words like "what the H**L were you thinking?' we made piece and let them on their way.
Never a dull moment...
Dude's Road Report....
Up until Saturday night FSR 250 was mostly dry...yes...Dry from the pavement at CR 15 all the way up to Rock Creek Trailhead with partly snowpacked spots in the treed areas....
With the recent snow, the road up from Silver Lake turnoff (FSR260) was wet sticky snow on top of dry ground...Yellow gate road is snowpacked and in good shape for snow machines xcountry snow shoes ect.... Please no large vehicles at this time...you will get stuck!!! Blue gate is passable up to Spring St. but not much beyond that. Red Gate is passable just up to Deer St. and then turns slushy...again avoid large heavy vehicles. Blowout Pass road in Jasper remains too soft for vehicles....and Green gate is dry to Deer St. as well.
The road to the spring has been bone dry with good access......Did someone say "BONE?"
Time to go ....Dude Dog out!!!
