Trail Closures to Atv's

The forest service has closed more trails to ATV's. So if your planning on using them on the forest then I would pick up a 2009 forest service map so you don't get fined.

Quite a few people got stuck trying to go down the ranger trail from the 4 way from cat creek trail and silver mountain trail. That trail has never been ATV passable and is now closed to ATV's. Warning it is a hazardous ...

Winter is still hanging on here in the mountains. We woke up this morning to a fresh dusting of about 1/2 inch of snow. It is still coming down lightly and the clouds have Cornwall blocked from view, so we may get a little more. Some of the aspens had started to leaf out, so I hope this does not kill the leaves.

I was looking at Alvins pictures (thanks for posting!) and noticed that the bear in his picture was brown. I have had others in the area tell me that they have seen brown bears up close and personal in the area.

Most of you recognize that I'm an eternal optimist so I did a little research on the topic of brown colored bears in Colorado.

The forest ranger said they are probally going to change the ATV game recovery rule. In the past people could recover game during mid day hours off trail or off road. They are proposing that ATV's must stay on designated trails period. No game recovery or ...

Here's an interesting document sent to be by a friend of Jasper who wished to remain anonymous. It's a scientific analysis if the Alamosa River Basin in regards to it's historic [in]ability to sustain aquatic life. In a nutshell, don't expect to catch many fish between Stunner and Jasper. Furthermore, there are recommendations for improving the fishery by adding one or more strategic ponds or ...

Kelly,

Larry Sr. had a membership to the shooting range off of 160 near Del Norte. I would like to zero a couple of rifles that have been re-scoped this weekend. I remember him telling me about a sporting goods store in Monte where he signed up?

Also, what's your thought about zeroing high-powered rifles in the National Forest? I get a little nervous when I hear shooting "out of ...
